13 (2015): Hooman Seyyedi’s Iranian Tale of Lonely Boy is Award Winner

The 18th edition of China’s premier film festival ran June 13-21. Prizes were decided by a jury headed by Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev (“Leviathan”).

Iranian filmmaker Hooman Seyyedi’s debut film 13 won for best film and best cinematography in the separate Asian New Talent Award section.

The film focuses on the loneliness and rage of a 13 year-old boy whose parents divorced.

“13” has collected awards at other festivals including Busan and Warsaw.
