We Are Who We Are, the limited TV drama series, was created and directed by Italian Luca Guadagnino (“Call Me By Your Name,” “Suspiria”) for HBO and Sky Atlantic.
A coming-of-age story set in an army base in Italy, the series centers on two American teenagers around 14, Fraser Wilson and Caitlin Harper.
While exploring friendship, first-love, sexual identity, the tale immerses the viewers in the messy exhilaration and anguish of what it means to be a teenager. The story could happen anywhere in the world, but in this case, it occurs a little slice of Americana in Italy.
Fraser Wilson (Jack Dylan Grazer) is a shy and introverted boy, who moves from New York to a military base in Veneto with his mothers.
Caitlin Harper Jordan (Kristine Seamon ), seemingly bold and confident, has lived with her family on the base for several years and speaks Italian.
Compared to her older brother Danny, Caitlin is closer with their father Richard, and does not communicate well with her mother Jenny.
Caitlin is the lynchpin of her group of friends, which includes Britney, Craig, Sam, Enrico, Valentina and Sole.
The cast includes Chloë Sevigny, Kid Cudi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Alice Braga, Spence Moore II, and Jordan Kristine Seamon.
The series is set to premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
The first broadcast is set for September 14, 2020 on HBO in the US, October 9 on Sky Atlantic in Italy, and in the UK on BBC Three.
