January 30, 2008–Oscar nominations for “Juno” push its score to the top of the nation's album sales chart. The Rhino release sold 65,000 copies in the week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen Soundscan. It's the first soundtrack from a best picture nominee to hit No. 1 since “Titanic” did it 10 years ago.
Having already released a video of Ellen Page and Michael Cera singing “Anyone Else But You,” Rhino will next release a ringtone of the track. An orange vinyl version of the soundtrack is on the Feb. 18 release slate.
Natasha Bedingfield's “Pocketful of Sunshine” (Epic) sold 50,000 copies and opened at No. 3, both of which are career bests for the singer.
Cat Power's “Jukebox” (Matador) sold 29,000 copies to debut at No. 12, the highest one week numbers of her career.
“Radio Disney: Jams 10” sold 21,000 to open at No. 18; country singer Chuck Wicks' “Starting Now” (RCA) sold 20,000 (No. 24); and Drive-By Truckers' “Brighter Than Creation's Dark” (New West) sold 16,000 (No. 36).
On the heels of his CBS special and five concert run in L.A., Garth Brooks' “Ultimate Hits” saw a 21% spike to 30,000, rising five slots to No. 9.
Last week's No. 1, Alicia Keys' “As I Am,” held steady in sales, 60,000, and dropped to No. 2.
