Charlotte Rampling, who received an Oscar nomination and Berlin Film Fest best actress award for 45 Years, will join the cast of Euphoria, which stars Alicia Vikander and Eva Green.
In a career spanning 50 years, Rampling’s credits include “Georgy Girl,” Luchino Visconti’s “The Damned,” Liliana Cavani’s “The Night Porter,” “The Wings of a Dove” and “Swimming Pool.”
Rampling’s recent TV credits includes “Broadchurch” and “London Spy.” Forthcoming film titles include “The Sense of an Ending,” in which she co-stars with Michelle Dockery, Emily Mortimer and Jim Broadbent.
She has been honored with a career César, the European Film Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, France’s Légion d’honneur and a British OBE.
The cinematographer on “Euphoria” will be Rob Hardy, who teams up with Vikander for a third time following “Ex Machina” and “Testament of Youth.” The film is set to start shooting in early August in the German Alps.
The picture is the English-language directorial debut of Swedish writer and director Lisa Langseth, who previously collaborated with Vikander on two Swedish-language titles, “Pure” and “Hotell.”
The film is produced by Vikander for Vikarious Prods., the company she recently launched along with London-based agent Charles Collier of Tavistock Wood.
Vikander, who won this year’s supporting actress Oscar for “The Danish Girl,” will star opposite Green (Tim Burton’s forthcoming “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children”), as “sisters in conflict travelling through Europe toward a mystery destination.”
