‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Trailer Sees Michael Keaton in Long-Awaited Sequel
Tim Burton’s follow-up to his 1988 original hits theaters in September.
Multiple Oscar nominee Michael Keaton is back in the first full trailer for director Tim Burton’s sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Warner highly anticipated follow-up to Burton’s original 1988 movie hits theaters September 6.
In addition to Keaton in the titular role, the cast includes Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe.
The film centers on Lydia Deetz (Ryder) and her family returning home after a tragedy and then later dealing with the consequences when her daughter, Astrid (Ortega), opens the portal to the afterlife.
The 1988 movie collected $73 million at the box office ($195 million today) and won the Oscar for best makeup. It also spawned a TV animated series and a Broadway musical.
While she is new to the franchise, Ortega previously worked with Burton, who served as director and producer on her Netflix series Wednesday.
Keaton said that he had already watched the new movie twice: “I have to tell you this, though. It’s really fucking good.”
