Oscars: Music Categories–Rules and Changes

There were changes in the rules of the Music categories in 1976:

Until then, it was by committee, typical Academy cliquishness and oversight.

In 1976, they let all 207 branch members vote for the nominees.

One of the youngest was Marvin Hamlisch, The Sting, Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore, 30.
