Oscar Scandals: Best Song–“Lady Be Good,” “The Godfather”

“The Last Time I Saw Paris,” from Lady Be Good, should not have been ineligible, as it had been published in 1940, before the movie was made.

The Academy took away one of The Godfather nominations, as composer Nino Rota had cribbed the film’s pop “Love Theme” from a scene for a 1958 film.

Instead, John Addison’s score for Sleuth was added.
