In 1952, the winner of the Best Actor was Gary Cooper for the western “High Noon,” which also received the Oscar for Scoring (by Dimitri Tiomkin).  The Story and Screenplay Oscar went to T.E. B. Clarke for “The Lavender Hill Mob,” and the Art Direction to Minnelli's Hollywood melodrama, “The Bad and the Beautiful.”
