In 1986, the Best Actor winner was Paul Newman for “The Color of Money,” the sequel to “The Hustler,” for which he was also nominated.  The other three Best Actor nominees were: Dexter Gordon for “Round Midnight,” Bob Hoskins for “Mona Lisa,” and William Hurt for “Children of a Lesser God.”

 

The Original Screenplay Oscar went to Woody Allen for “Hannah and Her Sisters,” in a contest that included “Crocodile Dyndee,” “My Beautiful Laundrette,” and Platoon,” also scripted by Oliver Stone.
