Oscar Movies: Ready, Willing and Able (1937)

Ray Enright’s “Ready, Willing and Able” is a second-tier Warner musical of the Depression era, starring Ruby Keeler.

The likable Ruby Keeler pretends to be a British actress in order to gain a big part in a Broadway musical.

The film is best known for Richard Whiting and Johnny Mercer’s song, “Too Marvelous for Words.”

It was nominated for the Dance Direction Oscar, due to Bobby Connolly’s inventive number, in which Ruby Keeler and Lee Dixon dance on the keys of a giant typewriter.
