Oscar Context
In 1994, “Pulp Fiction” competed for the Best Picture Oscar with “Forrest Gump” (which won), the year's most honored (13 categories) film, the old-fashioned prison drama “The Shawshank Redemption,” Redford's fact-based drama “Quiz Show,” which nabbed 4 nominations, and the British comedy “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” which received just 2 nominations.
“Forrest Gump” swept most of the important Oscars. The winner of the Supporting Actor Oscar was Martin Landau for “Ed Wood,” and of the Supporting Actress Oscar Dianne Wiest for “Bullets Over Broadway.”
