Norman Jewison's melodrama about a young nun (Meg Tilly), who has given birth and murdered her baby, is based on John Pielmeyer's long-running stage. The only joy is to see Jane Fonda (as the investigating psychiatrist) and Anne Bancroft (as mother superior) on the same screen, though neither is particularly good.
