Scorsese’s Collaborations with Cinematographer Robert Richardson
Scorsese has collaborated with Cinematographer Robert Richardson on five films, beginning with Casino in 1995.
In preparation for their teaming n Casino, Scorsese screened films that were shot by noir maestro, John Alton (Chinatown): “The Alton films were primarily inspirational because they helped the two of us develop a vocabulary and a syntax. By forming a common grammar, we could expand on what we were doing.”
