Oscar: Adapted Screenplay Winners, 1929-Present

In the entire history of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), only eight women (less than 10 percent) have won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar.

Only three of the six women have won solo:

Frances Marion (1930)

Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (twice, in 1986 and 1992)

Emma Thompson (1995), Sense and Sensibility

The other women were part of a male-dominated team.
