Two actors in Rocky, which ultimately won the Best Picture, were nominated in the Supporting Actor category, probably canceling each other out.
The first was Burt Young as Rokcy’s loutish pal.
The vet actor Burgess Meredith was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for playing Rocky’s cantankerous septuagenarian manager, a harsh and quarreling, committed to turning Rocky into a big success.
Talia Shire (aka Coppola’s younger sister) was nominated for Best Actress as Adrian, a plain salesclerk who becomes Rocky’s girlfriend.
