Oscar Actors: Paltrow, Gwyneth in Shakespeare in Love

Most recently, Gwyneth Paltrow won the best Actress as the Bard's muse in “Shakespeare in Love” (1998). Paltrow gave a lively, sexy performance, which impressed her director and the Academy voters.

Said director John Madden: “With Gwyneth, you had to believe that she could inspire Shakespeare to write that play. She has incredible physical presence and beauty and a slightly kind of spiritual, ineffable quality as a muse. The range of things she has to accomplish–the comic moments with passionate intensity–was extraordinary.”
