Oscar Actors: Hunt, Linda

Winning a 1983 Supporting Actress for The Year of Living Dangerously, Linda Hunt is still the only performer to win an Oscar for playing a member of the opposite sex.

Hunt was cast by director Peter Weir as Billy Kwan, an idealistic Indonesian vastly disillusioned by the Sukarno's regime.

When Linda Hunt said in her Oscar acceptance speech, “the sky's the limit,” she meant it– literally.
