Oscar Actors: Chalamet, Timothee–Like Legendary James Dean, Two Oscar Nominations Prior to Age of 30 (Oscar Records)

Timothee Chalamet and James Dean earned two Best Actor Oscar nominations before the age of 30.

My Oscar Book:

Chalamet was first nominated for the prestigious acting Academy Award thanks to his work in the coming-of-age romance, Call Me by Your Name (2017), and then he picked up another nod back on Jan. 23 for portraying legendary musician Bob Dylan in the must-see biopic, A Complete Unknown.

James Dean tragically died at the age of 24 on Sept. 30, 1955, during a head-on collision in the rural California community of Cholame.

Dean’s death came less than a month before his unforgettable feature film, Rebel Without a Cause, began its theatrical run in October 1955. The following year, the once up-and-coming phenom was nominated posthumously for his first Best Actor Oscar thanks to his indelible work in the classic East of Eden, which was based on John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel.

In 1957, Dean was posthumously nominated for the Best Actor Oscar again thanks to his performance as Jett Rink in director George Stevens’ epic drama, Giant (1956).
Dean starred in a stacked cast, which included none other than Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor.
Dean never won the highly coveted golden statue, and if Chalamet hopes to bring home the hardware, he’s going to have to do it against some incredibly talented competition.
