Oscar 2019: Snubs–If Beale Street Could Talk–Shouldabe Best Picture Nominee

SNUB: If Beale Street Could Talk (Best Picture)

Barry Jenkins’ skillful, often lyrical adaptation of James Baldwin’s novel by the same name, If Beale Street Could Talk, is a follow up to his brilliant 2016 Best Picture winner, Moonlight.

The movie did not impress Oscar voters enough to place it high in their ballot for Best Picture.

Was the movie released too late?

Too bad as only 8 films–of potential 10–got Best Picture nomination.

Even so, the movie earned 3 nods:

Adapted Screenplay: Barry Jenkins

Supporting Actress: Regina King (frontrunner in her category)
