A total 124 features have been submitted for consideration in the Documentary Feature category for the 88th Academy Awards.
A shortlist of 15 films will be announced in December.
“Where to Invade Next” was sold to a new company operated by Tom Quinn, Jason Janego and Tim League, who plan a qualifying run December 23 in New York and Los Angeles.
Mountain-climbing doc “Meru” has grossed $2.3 million since its release in August by Music Box.
Fox Searchlight has taken in $1.7 million since October 2 for “He Named Me Malala,” Davis Guggenheim’s portrait of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
“The Wolfpack” has grossed $1.3 million for Magnolia since its release in June and The Orchard took in $1 million for “Dior and I.”
Laura Poitras won the documentary award this year for “Citizenfour,” while Alex Gibney has two titles on the list: “Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine” and “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison System of Belief,” which won an Emmy last month.
