Oscar 2013: 289 Eligible Films

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has approved 289 films to be eligible for the 2013 Academy Awards.

The nearly 300 titles are posted on the Oscars website.

Films must show in a commercial theater in Los Angeles county by Dec. 31 for a minimum of seven consecutive days. The eligible titles must run more than 40 minutes — although it seems unlikely a nominee these days would run less than 85 or 90 minutes.

Nominations are announced Jan. 16, and the Academy Awards are March 2.
