Oscar 2008: White Night Wedding Is Iceland's Entry for the Foreign-Language Oscar

Sep 22, 2008–Baltasar Kormakur's “White Night Wedding” is Iceland's entry for the best foreign-language Oscar. The film concerns the upcoming wedding of a professor to a girl, and was written by Kormakur and Olafur Egilsson.

It's produced by Kormakur and Agnes Johansen for Blueeyes Prods. Executive producer is Lilja Palmadottir. International sales agent is Celluloid Dreams.

“White Night Wedding” is also Iceland's entry for the annual Nordic Council's Film Prize, which will be handed out in Stockholm October 15, 2008.

The Academy has invited 96 countries to submit films for foreign-language Oscar consideration. Deadline for submission is October 1, 2008, the nominations will be announced January 22, 2009 and the 81st kudosfest takes place February 22.
