Oscar 2007: Show's High-Profile Presenters and Performers

February 14, 2008–Oscar plans are full speed ahead, according to Academy prexy Sid Ganis. The show's producer Gil Cates unveiled the list of presenters and performers for the 80th annual Oscars on February 24, 2008.

Presenters will include Alan Arkin, Jennifer Hudson, Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker (last years acting winners), Amy Adams, Jessica Alba, Cate Blanchett, Josh Brolin, Steve Carell, George Clooney, Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Harrison Ford, Jennifer Garner, Tom Hanks, Anne Hathaway, Katherine Heigl, Jonah Hill, Dwayne Johnson, Nicole Kidman, James McAvoy, Queen Latifah, Seth Rogen, Martin Scorsese, Hilary Swank, John Travolta, Denzel Washington and Renee Zellweger.

As for performers, Adams will sing Happy Working Song, Kristin Chenoweth and Marlon Saunders will warble Thats How You Know, and Jon McLaughlin will do So Close (all three from Enchanted); Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova will perform Falling Slowly (from Once) and Jamia Simone Nash will perform Raise It Up with the Impact Repertory Theatre of Harlem, headed by Jamal Joseph (from August Rush).

Writers for the show will be Hal Kanter, Buz Kohan, Jon Macks and Bruce Vilanch, while host Jon Stewart is working with his team of scribes.

Ganis reminded that there had been two plans for the Feb. 24 show when the strike was on, but We are now full-speed ahead on what has become known as Show A. The bad news is past us and our colleagues are back to work, he commented.

Cates didnt offer many details on Plan B, other than admitting it would have been heavy on pre-recordings and light on star power. It would have been the most exotic and interesting clip show in the history of TV, deadpanned Cates.
