October 16, 2007–Rithy Panhs Paper Cannot Wrap Up Embers (Le Papier ne peut pas envelopper la braise), which examines the lives of a group of Cambodian prostitutes, won this years European Film Academy Documentary Prix Arte award.
With infinite respect and great warmth, a nea Seeing My Ex r Brechtian documentary unfolds, a work of great humanity and impressive artistic competence, the jury said in explaining its choice of the French docu for the prize. The academy will present the prize, sponsored by European cultural channel Arte, at the 20th European Film Awards ceremony on December 1 in Berlin.
The three-member jury that selected the winning docu included Francine Bruecher, head of international promotion at Swiss Films; David Fisher, general director of the New Israeli Film Foundation; and German producer-director Philip Groening.
