Oscar 2007: Norway's Oscar Nominee

September 9, 2007–Norwegian director Petter Nss Gone with the Woman (Tatt av kvinnen), which will have its international premire at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, will represent Norway in the race for the Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Feature.

Starring Trond Fausa Aurvg and Marian Saastad Ottesen, the screen adaptation of Erlend Loes novel debut from 1993 is Nss second bid for the Academy Award, after his Elling was nominated in 2002.

Gone with the Woman follows a young mans first tentative steps into the potential disaster zone of love, after he has been seduced, invaded and conquered by a talkative young woman who suddenly lives in his apartment.

Nss, actor Peter Stormare and producer Olav en, of Monster Film, will attend the screening in Toronto, where the Norwegian Film Institute will launch the promotional campaign for the movie.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the Oscar nominations on Tuesday, 22 January, while the awards ceremony will take place for the 80 time on Sunday, 24 February.

Gone with the Woman, which opened this years Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, will be domestically released this week (Friday, 7 September) by SF Norge. Foreign distribution is handled by Svensk Filmindustri International Sales.
