Oscar 2007: Manchevski's Shadows to Represent Macedonia for Foreign Oscar

September 22, 2007–Milcho Manchevski's “Shadows” is selected as Macedonia's choice for the the best foreign- language Oscar. The film had its world premiere earlier this month at the Toronto Film Festival.

“Shadows” is about a doctor, whose life changes dramatically after he survives a car crash that should have killed him.

The picturec is co-produced by Macedonia's Senka Film, Bulgaria's Sia Advertising/Camera, Italy's Classic SRL, Spain's Tornasol Films and Germany's Blue Eyes. It also involves German pubcaster BR, German/French web Arte, and is distributed internationally by Bavaria Film.

The deadline for foreign film submissions is Oct. 1. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the foreign language film nominations on January 22.

The Oscar ceremony, the 80th anniversary this year, is on February 24.
