ALEJANDRO GONZLEZ IRRITU (Best Drama, Babel): Woo. I swear I have my papers in order, governor, I swear. I'm scared. Well, I'm just so glad that I have, against my wife's will, in the car, those two tequila shots. I think they will help me through this. But I want to say that we are receiving this on behalf of more than 1,200 people that worked on this film and made it possible. We worked, and it took us like more than one year doing this film and shooting it in three continents and in five languages. And it seems that no matter how many
languages you make a film or you shoot a film, I
think that the power of cinema is universal and at the end, emotion doesn't need words, but that's the beauty of it.
I want to thank, first of all, personally Jon
Kilik and Steve Golin, my partner and producer–
without him this would never be possible. And we
want to thank especially the beautiful cast that
we count with them: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett,
Adriana Barraza, and all the other non-actors around the world who made it possible and all my
cinemagraphic family, which has been doing the
last two films with me, which is Rodrigo Prieto,
Guillermo Arriaga, Gustavo Santaolalla, Jose Garcia, Martin Hernandez. This is very meaningful award not only for us but for
the Mexican film industry. And I want to thank Brad Grey, John Lesher, and all the people in Paramount that supported this film, who believed in it. All the people who believe and, you know, at the end, and last but not least I want to think myparents for their unconditional love and for my kids Alicia, Madrigal my wife, for whom this film is dedicated. Thank you very much. Thank you.
