Oscar 1993: Competition

All five Supporting actors of 1993 were worthy nominees in an exceptionally strong category: Leonard DiCaprio for What's Eating Gilbert Grapes, Ralph Fiennes for Schindler's List, Tommy Lee Jones for The Fugitive, John Malkovich as the villain in the Line of Fire, and Peter Poslethwaite as the wrongly convicted father in the Name of the Father.

How do you make an informed decision and choose one of those terrific turns The feeling was that the talented Jones won because he was a known quantity and one who's paid his Hollywood dues–Jones was Sissy Spacek's husband in Coal Miner's Daughter, for which he wasn't nominated, though he was nominated in 1991 for JFK.
