‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Wins Best Film, Nolan Best Director
An Oscar bellwether, NYFCC is the first major critics’ group to name the best films and performances of 2023.

Celebrating its 89th year, the East Coast group comprises more than 50 journalists.
NYFCC’s winner for best film has typically had strong correlation with the best picture Oscar.
Since the expansion to nominees in 2009, only “Carol” (2015) and First Cow (2020) have missed out on a best picture nomination.
Since 1935, NYFCC and the Academy have matched about 40 percent of the time.
The NYFCC winners list is below:
Best Film: “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Apple/Paramount)
Best Director: Christopher Nolan, “Oppenheimer” (Universal)
Best Actor: Franz Rogowski, “Passages” (Mubi)
Best Actress: Lily Gladstone, “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Apple/Paramount)
Best Supporting Actor: Charles Melton, “May December” (Netflix)
