Ryan Murphy and FX made history in casting Pose, the cable network’s drama about New York’s ballroom culture in the 1980s.
Murphy hired LGBTQ talent, including five transgender women of color in series regular roles, an unprecedented number for a scripted show.
The prolific creator’s efforts were recognized Thursday when the 2019 Golden Globes nominations were announced.
Pose is breaking ground as the first TV series with a mostly trans cast, including leading ladies Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Angelica Ross and Hailie Sahar, to be nominated in any category for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual ceremony.
