Blanchett to Receive Toronto Film Fest Tribute Award
The Oscar winner will also take part in an informal conversation at the September 5 to 15 event.
Multiple Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will be honored at the 2024 Toronto Film Fest with Tribute Award, while participating in In Conversation With… event.

The Oscar winner will receive the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award in Toronto on Sept. 8.
Blanchett starred in Canadian director Guy Maddin’s Rumors, which bowed at the Cannes Film Festival and is expected to have a North American premiere at TIFF in September.
Proceeds from the Tribute Awards go towards the festival’s TIFF Every Story Fund, which encourages diversity, equity and inclusion in filmmaking. The gala dinner fundraiser for the fest’s philanthropic efforts is also an occasional harbinger of Oscar recognition and is held each year at Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
The star of Tár, Blue Jasmine, Carol and Elizabeth is also a prolific producer, through her company Dirty Films (The New Boy, Miss America), and has served as co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
TIFF Tribute Award honorees tend to have films in Toronto’s official lineup.
Toronto had announced that David Cronenberg will receive the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award and Oscar-nominated actor Amy Adams will receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award. Past Tribute Awards honorees include Jessica Chastain, Roger Deakins, Colman Domingo, Brendan Fraser, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Joaquin Phoenix, Taika Waititi, Michelle Yeoh and Chloé Zhao.
