YouTube Premium has ordered a dark comedy series, On Becoming a God in Central Florida.
Kirsten Dunst stars in and executive produces the series, with George Clooney and Grant Heslov executive producing via their Smokehouse Pictures banner.
The show, which was previously in development at AMC, is darkly comedic tale about the cult of free enterprise and one young woman’s relentless pursuit of the American dream.
Set near Orlando in the early 1990s, the show centers on Krystal Gill (Dunst), a poor water park employee who schemes her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise: the cultish, flag waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drives her family to ruin.
YouTube has ordered a 10-episode first season, which will debut in 2019.
