July 9, 2008–Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media will to co-finance the Weinstein Company's $80 million Rob Marshall musical “Nine.”
Weinstein is also currently seeking a partner for Tarantino's WWII spaghetti Western “Inglorious Bastards,” which the director wants to finish in time for next year's Cannes festival. The Weinstein Co. will distribute domestically; Lawrence Bender is producing.
“Nine,” will begin shooting in the fall with Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman. The production suffered delays due to the writers strike, and then when Javier Bardem dropped out of the project.
