Brad Pitt’s Plan B has set up a movie version of the recently published science-fiction novel Illuminae at Warner.
Written by Australian scribes Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff as the first in a trilogy (“The Illuminae Files”), the novel centers on a hacker and her ex-boyfriend in the year 2575 with two rival mega-corporations warring over a planet at the edge of the universe.
When a plague breaks out, the duo is forced to evacuate the planet with a hostile warship in pursuit.
The story is told through hacked documents, including emails, maps, files, IMs, medical reports and interviews.
Pitt will produce along with Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Sarah Esberg will executive produce and execute for Plan B.
Plan B produced “World War Z,” “12 Years a Slave,” “The Big Short” and “The Lost City of Z.”
Kaufman co-authored “Starbound Trilogy” and Kristoff wrote the “Lotus War” series and “The Nevernight Chronicle.” Jesse Ehrman and Julia Spiro are overseeing the project for the studio.
