April 30, 2008–Former Turin Film Festival co-head Giulia DAgnolo Vallan has joined the Venice Film Festival as its U.S. programmer.
New York-based DAgnolo Vallan, who previously worked with Venice between 2003-2006, will assist director Marco Mueller in scouting out American films for selection.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles-based Margherita Di Paola, will become the Venice fests L.A. correspondent, working closely with both Mueller and DAgnolo Vallan.
Venices upcoming 65th edition, which will open with the Coen brothers Burn After Reading, is expected to be particularly packed with U.S. titles, many of which are not ready for Cannes. The Venice fest will run August 27-September 6.
