March 2, 2009–The eighth Tribeca Film Festival will open April 22 with Woody Allen's world premiere of “Whatever Works.”
The picture is a return to New York for Allen, who'd shot and set his last four films in Spain and the U.K. Tribeca, you may recall, began as a bid to rally lower Manhattan after 9/11 and has often programmed pictures set in Gotham.
“Whatever Works,” a Sony Classics release, stars Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley Jr.
Tribeca Film Fest runs through May 3.
