December 5, 2007–Slamdance Film Festival announced its line-up today, with “Real Time,” written and directed by Randall Cole, kicking off the fest. Picture, which stars Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel, deals with a gambler who is given an hour to live by a hitman. The Festival runs Jan. 17-25, concurrently to Sundance.
Twenty-nine feature films were chosen out of 1,200 submissions for the categories of Narrative Features, Documentaries, and Special Screenings. Films selected for the fourth programming category, shorts, will be announced shortly
The fest is unique in that feature films must be from first time directors and have budgets under $1 million to be eligible for consideration. Also, the selection committee is exclusively comprised of filmmakers, including many Slamdance alumni.

Films selected for the narrative feature category include “Fix,” written and directed by Tao Ruspoli and “Glory Boy Days,” written and directed by Paul Encinas.
Films selected for the documentary feature category include “Circus Rosaire,” written and directed by Robyn Bliley and “More Shoes,” written and directed by Lee Kazimir.
Films selected for the Special Screenings include “Just Add Water,” directed by Hart Bochner and “Frontrunner,” written and directed by Virginia Williams.
