Savannah Film Fest 2007: Ed Burns Purple Violets Wins Top Award

November 5, 2007–Ed Burns' “Purple Violets” won the narrative feature at the 10th Savannah Film Festival's closing awards ceremony Saturday. A dozen awards were given out at the ceremony, with Will Frears winning narrative short for his “All Saint's Day.”

The judging panel was comprised of thesps Lois Chiles and Timothy Dalton and multi-hyphenates Amy Ephron and Nelson George.

Non-competive awards were given to Charlie Rose, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for entertainment journalism, and “Kite Runner” screenwriter David Benioff, who received the Achievement in Cinema Award
