Cannes Film Fest 1995: Year 48–Underground, Kusturica’s Second Top Award

The 48th Cannes Film Fest was held from May 17 to May 28, 1995.

The Palme d’Or went to Underground by Emir Kusturica; it was his second win after 1985’s When Father Went Away on Business.

The festival opened with the French film, La Cité des enfants perdus, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

It closed with Sam Raimi’s Western, The Quick and the Dead, starring Sharon Stone and Leonardo DiCario.
