Film Education: Teaching Cinema–Students

Like all momentous events, January 6 is a remarkable teaching opportunity. But only if we use it to open rather than to close debate. Critical intellectual analysis is our responsibility to our students.

Effective teaching rests both on a genuine and concern for students knowledge and understanding and on our ability to convey to them a love of cinema.

In this global digital age, the story of American cinema (Hollywood) must become a conversation with the entire world, not a congratulatory monologue with ourselves.
