This was the third out of four Oscar nominations for Jane Wyman, who won the 1948 Best Actress for “Johnny Belinda.” Surprisingly, despite a lengthy career full of achievements, Joan Blondell received only one nomination.

In 1951, Vivien Leigh won the Best Actress and Kim Hunter the Supporting Actress for Kazan's film version of Tennessee Williams' “A Streetcar Named Desire.”

Bless the Beasts and Children received one Oscar nomination, for Best Song.

“Blazing Saddles” was nominated for three Oscars, including Supporting Actress for Madeline Kahn, whos doing a good parody of all the cabaret singers that Marlene Dietrich had played (including Destry Rides Again, which also had elements of spoof).

The Blackboard Jungle received four Oscar nominations, including Screenplay for Richard Brooks (who also directed) and Cinematography (b/w) for Russell Harlan.

Blade Runner was nominated for two Oscars: Art Direction-Set Decoration to Lawrence G. Paul, David Snyder, and Linda DeScenna; and Visual Effects to Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich, and David Dryer.
