Oscar 2009: Mechanic and Shankman, New Producers of Oscar Show

Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Oscar Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be the first major Oscar show involvement for both men.

Oscar Directors: Nichols, Mike–AFI Achievement Award

October 11, 2009–Mike Nichols will receive the 2010 American Film Institute (AFI) Life Achievement Award.  Howard Stringer, chair of the AFI board, made the announcement Sunday. The award will be presented at a tribute in Los Angeles next summer.

 

 

Oscar 2009: Afghan Star is U.K.'s Foreign Language Oscar Entry

Roast Beef, Redstart and Kaboora Productions, the producers of "Afghan Star" have announced that their film has been chosen by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts as the UK's official selection for the Foreign Language Film category in this year's Oscar Awards.
