Legend of the Guardians: Interview with director Zack Snyder

Zach Snyder (300, Watchmen) is the director of the new animated film, "Legend of Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole". The film is being released by Warner Bros. on September 24.

"Isn't it every kid's fantasy to become a character in his or her favorite story?" director Zack Snyder asks. "In our film, it's a young owl who wants to find these legendary warrior owls that have been part of his personal mythology since he was born. And when the stories actually turn out to be true, it's very powerful."

 

 

Never Let Me Go: Interview with director Mark Romanek

Mark Romanek is the director of "Never Let Me Go," starring Keira Knightley, Andrew Garfield, and Carey Mulligan. The film, which based on Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, is being released by Twentieth Century Fox on September 15, 2010.

“I had a powerful and strange reaction to this story, which I felt was so daring and beautiful.  I could not stop thinking about it and I began to dream about making it into a movie,” Romanek says.  

 

 

Waiting for Superman: Interview with director Davis Guggenheim

Davis Guggenheim is the director of "Waiting for Superman," a new documentary focusing on the flaws of the American public education system. The film is being released by Paramount Vantage on September 24.

 

"When people ask me what inspired WAITING FOR 'SUPERMAN'," says Guggenheim, "it was really that feeling I had every morning driving past my public school – the feeling that I'm so lucky to have found another way for my kids, and the feeling that this is not enough, it's not enough that I take care of my kids and move on. Unless each one of us fights for change, our schools won't get any better." 

 

 

 

Resident Evil Afterlife 3D: Interview with writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson

Paul W.S. Anderson is the writer/director of "Resident Evil: Afterlife," starring Milla Jovovich as Alice. The film, which is the fourth in the franchise and the first in 3D, is being released by Screen Gems on September 10.

Franchise creator Paul W. S. Anderson is back at the helm of Resident Evil: Afterlife, after taking a two-film hiatus from directing duties. “I missed directing the films,” says Anderson. “Resident Evil has always been a rich playground for me. I disappeared for a month playing the first two games and emerged from my hatch with a giant growth of beard.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Town, The: Interview with Star/Director Ben Affleck

The new heist movie "The Town" stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, and Jon Hamm. Affleck directed and co-wrote the film, in addition to starring in the central role of Doug MacRay. The film is being released by Warner Bros. on September 17.

"It's interesting because, on the one hand, you have this outer shell of a heist movie, but, at its heart, the story is about a guy who's dealing with being stuck in a place he doesn't want to be and wants to change his life, which was much more compelling to me. It's about how rooted you are in how you grew up and also about children paying for the sins of their parents. I think that's something many people can identify with, even those of us who can't necessarily relate to the criminal aspect," says Affleck
