Thanksgiving 2020: Macy’s Parade 2020 Kicks Off With Floats, Balloons–and Masks

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade looks different this year, with no New York City streets packed with crowds, and a strained holiday feeling due to the pandemic.

The parade was live on NBC on the east coast and streamed on YouTube by Verizon. Some of the musical performances were taped days prior.

Many of the classic floats are present, however, those onboard wore masks. Balloon handlers also wore masks.

NBC stars passed along their well wishes to fans and family they could not be with due to the pandemic.

Al Roker walked the parade route, catching up with some of the volunteers.
