Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky’s Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky’s controversial documentary “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory,” which chronicles the West Memphis Three, will premiere a new ending at the New York Film Festival.
The U.S. premiere of Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory comes on the heels of the last week’s events when the West Memphis Three — Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelly — were set free after 18 years in prison for the murder of three eight-year old boys.
The duo was in court when the three men were released due to new DNA evidence that exonerated them. The film is a follow-up to their 1996 film Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills and its 2000 sequel Paradise Lost 2: Revelations.
Oliver Stone will offer a special preview of his new documentary project, The Untold History of the United States at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 49th New York Film Festival. NYFF will present Untold History‘s first three chapters, which focus on the events leading up to America’s entrance into World War II and the war itself. The 10-part miniseries will premiere on Showtime in 2012.
The New York Film Festival runs September 30 to October 16.
