Jaws, Spielberg‘s breakout film of 1975, is returning in a limited release to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Fathom Events will screen Jaws on Sunday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 24, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time in theaters around the country.
Jaws is credited with inventing the very concept of the summer blockbuster, setting the record at the time for the highest-grossing film ever.
A group of industry voters ranked it as the 24th Hollywood’s film ever made.
The shark attack film, which starred Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, cost just $9 million to make and grossed nearly that much in its first weekend.
It later accumulated more than $460 million worldwide, not adusted for inflation.
