The film industry should hit a global record, in which the U.S. market (and Chinese, of course) played a major part.
In 2018, there were many blockbusters and surprise successes, alongside with sequels, franchises and remakes.
The domestic box office set a new benchmark this year of $11.9 billion for the first time ever.
The boost of 7% more than last year is due in part to blockbusters like Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” Universal’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” and Fox’s “Deadpool 2,” as well as sleeper hits like Paramount’s “A Quiet Place” and Warner’s A Star Is Born.”
Overall it’s been a good year for mainstream Hollywood and indie cinema.
