‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ Trailer: Aaron Sorkin’s Courtroom Drama Re-Creates Riots at 1968 DNC Riots and the Aftermath

Netflix on Sunday released the teaser trailer for its upcoming film The Trial of the Chicago 7.
The movie, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, is based on the real-life trial of seven defendants who were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot following a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention that turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest — including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale — were charged with and the trial that followed has been called one of the most notorious in history.
The film features an all-star cast that include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong, Noah Robbins, Danny Flaherty, Ben Shenkman, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Caitlin Fitzgerald, Alice Kremelberg, John Doman, J.C. MacKenzie, Damien Young, Wayne Duvall and C.J. Wilson.
Marc Platt, Stuart Besser, Matt Jackson and Tyler Thompson are the producers.
The movie will stream on Netflix starting Oct. 16.
