Oscar Speeches: Stewart, Donald Ogden–Scribe of The Philadelphia Story

Upon winning the wring Oscar for George Cukor’s 1940 masterpiece, The Philadelphia Story, starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart,  Donald Ogden Stewart said: “I envy the boys who get the technical awards. They  don’t have to get nervously drunken before. There has been so much niceness here tonight, that I am happy to say that I am entirely–and solely–responsible for the success of ‘The Philadelphia Story.'”
