Speed Walking (2014): Niels Arden (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) Oplev’s Tale of Teenage Sexuality

Breaking Glass Pictures will release the coming-of-age drama Speed Walking, directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Flatliners) on DVD/VOD on August 7, 2018.

The movie, based on the novel Kapgang by Morten Kirkskov, had played in various film festivals in 2014 and 2015, but it is getting DVD release this year.

In a quirky small town, 14-year-old Martin is getting ready for one of the most formal transitions from boy to man: the communion. It’s 1976, and so music is in the air, while adolescent hormones run strong.

But in the midst of it all, Martin’s mother suddenly passes away, nd her tragic death triggers a series of events that change Martin’s life forever, but also affects everyone else in the local community.

Speed Walking offers an intense, humorous, and evocative exploration of early male sexuality, while suggesting how life and death demand a transition in all human beings regardless of gender and age.
